Shopping for a wedding dress is most girls’ dream come true. It comes with a euphoric excitement knowing that one of the most important days is just around the corner. In order to get that feeling, you need to have a pretty good idea of what you want. Take a look at wedding magazines, wedding dress photos, Pinterest and wedding websites to bring the ideas with you when shopping. You know yourself and your style and you go from there.
As a wedding coordinator who has been in the wedding industry for quite a long time, I’ve seen every style, trend and type of wedding dress you can imagine. So, today I’d love to break down some of the tips that I’ve learned over the years that will help you find that perfect wedding dress.
Keep the following factors in mind when dress shopping…
{Body shape and size}
Your body size is an important factor that you cannot afford to ignore when shopping for bridal wear. You should only shop for a wedding dress that will suit your body shape without struggling. Consider your bust size, hips, waist among others before settling for any dress. Ask your dress attendant to suggest the shape that best suits your figure—I find they are rarely wrong.
{Quality and comfort}
It is wise to shop for a high quality wedding dress. Be aware of dealers or shops who sell sample gowns at a steep discount for they may be damaged. Check for stains or tears before paying for your dream dress. In addition, you should be able to move freely with the dress on so you can dance in it. An ideal wedding dress should be stylish AND comfortable.
{Price}
While you want a dream wedding, it is important to remember that you will only wear it for one occasion. It is therefore crucial to avoid overstretching your budget so that you can buy a specific wedding dress. It is supposed to be your important day so don’t stress yourself, instead stick to your budget.
And don’t forget that you will actually need other accessories such as shoes, jewelry and undergarments to complement the dress so set your budget appropriately.
It might take some time, some trial and error, but from years of experience, that wedding dress needs to be the one you’ve dreamt about forever. When you try it on, you just get that feeling...feeling of perfection...that feeling of, “This is it!” After all you only get married once, right?
